Surrey New Writers Festival 2020

This year's Surrey New Writers Festival was a fantastic day with a smashing line up of writers, and we were lucky enough not to get cancelled due to Covid-19. Looking back a couple of weeks to the event now it's easy to see how early days things still were then, and we did unfortunately have two authors who had to cancel due to the encroaching lockdown.

This year we decided to take a wee break from running panels as they have run most years since 2013. Last year we tried out some new things with the festival too by adding in a prose masterclass as well as a workshop on putting together a short story portfolio. Both of these were packed out in 2019 so we decided to follow up with similar for 2020.

As well as having two masterclasses this year: Poetry & Life Writing with Professor Andy Brown, and Writing Sizzling Sex Scenes with Dr Beth Miller, we added in a few taster sessions on our main festival theme: Fact & Fiction.

If you didn't get the chance to join us for the festival this year, please add yourselves to our mailing list or follow us on social media.

With many many thanks to everyone who attended and to our line-up of authors this year!
